Training

One of the most important things to understand is that there are 2 levels in diagnostics.

Scanning
Diagnostic Testing

To fully understand the difference, some training is required and this is covered in both our Componentry and Advanced Diagnostics Courses.

To fully understand the difference, some training is required and this is covered in both our Componentry and Advanced Diagnostics Courses.

1. Componentry Topics

  • Introduction to Electronics & Diagnostics
  • Components (Theory of operation)
  • Scanners vs Diagnostic Scanners (what is the difference)
  • Understanding Fault Codes, Current Data and Actuation
  • Introduction to Automotive Oscilloscopes
  • Introduction to 4 Gas Analysis

2. Advanced Diagnostics Topics

  • Electronic components in details (How to test)
  • Emission control systems
  • Advanced Oscilloscope functions
  • Understanding 4 Gas Analysis and Diagnosis functions
  • Sensor Simulation

Once you have completed both of these courses you will have a full understanding of what componentry is fitted to the vehicle, how it works and how to test it, in place and under load.

You will also know the difference between a scanner and a diagnostic machine and how to use the extra functions in the diagnosis process to reduce the time you take to diagnose and repair the vehicle, what would be the best for your shop, what you would need to invest and also be able to find out what the return on that investment would be.

Our training courses are designed by technicians for technicians and are very practical giving you the opportunity to get “hands-on” and leave with the knowledge firmly set in your mind.
